This past weekend was my third consecutive year assisting the National Multiple Sclerosis Society’s Delaware Chapter (NMSS) with their bike ride fundraiser Crankin’ for a Cure. Despite facing the type of weather that only a duck would enjoy (it rained and rained) the event was still a major success. I developed this event’s name 3 years ago by designing a Crankin’ for a Cure T-shirt with a large bicycle crank graphic on it. It was an instant hit and the name stuck. From there I generated the event’s identity and we’ve continued to crank at this fundraiser ever since. This year I “borrowed” Apple’s iThis and iThat gimmick. Why not iCrank? It was fun handing out the shirts (about 450!) and watching riders look at them and smile or laugh before putting them on. Crankin’ for a Cure to rid the world of MS. The DE Chapter’s next big event is the annual Bike to the Bay! As a member of the DE Chapter’s Marketing Committee, I have become very involved promoting this event and many others for several years now. It feels good donating a bit of talent to such a worthy cause.
